Lion's Head provides a fantastic alternative when Table Mountain is shrouded in mist, offering a more off-the-beaten-track adventure, ideal for avoiding crowds and congestion.

DIFFICULTY The ascent involves some scrambling and exposure to heights – not too extreme, but a decent sense of balance and a head for heights are essential. If you're afraid of heights, this route may not be suitable. For those who are just nervous or wary, be ready for a challenge and to step outside your comfort zone. Some find the mandatory descent (no cable car option) more challenging than the ascent.

Lion's Head's hiking trail follows a well-marked path, including substantial rock steps and scrambling in some areas.
