World class sport climbing (over 1000 routes) in rural Africa and 150km from The Kruger Park!

Waterval Boven (view on Ntaba Project) has some of the finest bolted sport-climbing routes in the world. The sandstone/quartzite is bullet-hard and orange in color, and the routes range in difficulty from Fr4 to Fr8c.

In addition to great climbing, the village of Waterval Boven has its own unique personality and charm that sets it apart from other climbing destinations. There's the blissful isolation, peacefulness (the crags are astonishingly empty even during prime season), and South African culture is in full force.

  • includes equipment (we do recommend bringing your own climbing shoes, as they are so personal)
